Who We Are

Who We Are — Louisiana Trial Lawyers

If you have been injured through another's negligence in Louisiana, Texas, or Mississippi, the trial lawyers at Cardenas & Saunders can help.

Leonard Cardenas III founded the Cardenas Law Firm in 1995 after spending the first nine years of his legal career defending insurance companies and corporations. Having witnessed first-hand the tactics used by corporations to minimize the financial recovery of injured victims and their families, Mr. Cardenas decided to use his legal talents to represent those victimized by the wrongful acts of others in personal injury and wrongful death cases. Attorney Cardenas is Board Certified as a Civil Trial Advocacy Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Mr. Cardenas is licensed to practice in Louisiana and Texas.

Henri M. Saunders joined Mr. Cardenas in 1999, creating the firm of Cardenas & Saunders. In his 30-year legal career, practicing exclusively in the area of personal injury, Mr. Saunders has gained extensive experience in all phases of litigation. He has collected millions of dollars in compensation for victims of maritime and offshore accidents on the Mississippi River and in the Gulf of Mexico. Mr. Saunders is licensed to practice in Louisiana.

Scotty E. Chabert, Jr., the newest member of the Cardenas & Saunders legal team, joined the firm in 2007. A graduate of Southern University Law Center in 2006, he clerked for the Honorable James J. Best in the 18th Judicial District Court. Mr. Chabert is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Each of our lawyers is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Louisiana Trial Lawyers Association, licensed to practice law in all state courts in Louisiana. Our firm is able to bring cases before the United States District Courts for the Middle, Eastern, and Western Districts of Louisiana, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

The lawyers of Cardenas & Saunders do not defend insurance companies, businesses, or corporations. We represent real people confronting real emotional, medical, and legal issues. Because of our past experience and insider perspective, we can anticipate the strategies used by businesses and insurance companies to reduce your financial award. Our experience allows us to develop effective legal strategies that get results.
